At St George's Parish, our faith is lived through action. We are called not only to worship together but to reach out in love to our brothers and sisters, especially those in need.
Our ministries reflect the heart of the Gospel message: to feed the hungry, comfort the sick, educate the young, and build up the Body of Christ through prayer and service. Every parishioner is invited to participate in these vital works of mercy.
Our dedicated parishioners extend Christ's compassion to those who cannot join us for Mass, bringing the light of faith into homes and care facilities throughout Te Kuiti.
We regularly visit residents at Hillview Rest Home, offering companionship, prayer, and the joy of Christian fellowship. These visits remind our elderly brothers and sisters that they remain cherished members of our parish family.
Our pastoral care team visits parishioners who are ill or unable to attend church due to age or disability. We bring Holy Communion, pray with families, and provide spiritual support during times of illness and recovery.
Supporting the Te Kuiti Foodbank
"For I was hungry and you gave me food" - Matthew 25:35
In response to Christ's call to feed the hungry, our parish actively supports the Te Kuiti Foodbank, ensuring that no one in our community goes without basic necessities.
We organize regular food drives, collect non-perishable items, and contribute financially to ensure the foodbank can serve families experiencing hardship. This ministry embodies our belief that every person deserves dignity and access to basic nutrition.
Our historic bond with St Joseph's School continues to nurture young minds and hearts in the Catholic faith, preparing the next generation to live as disciples of Christ.
Since our parish's earliest days, when classes were held in the church itself, we have been deeply committed to Catholic education. Today, we maintain close ties with St Joseph's School, supporting teachers, students, and families in their educational and spiritual journeys.
The school basement continues to serve as our parish hall, a physical symbol of the unity between faith formation and academic learning. This shared space hosts parish gatherings, youth programs, and community events that strengthen bonds across generations.
We collaborate with the school to provide sacramental preparation, spiritual retreats, and opportunities for young people to serve in liturgical ministries. Our goal is to help children and youth develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
